Selma AIR's Mission

Since 1995 our mission has been to educate and facilitate community awareness and involvement in the HIV and AIDS crisis. AIR also assist with and provide counseling, referrals, and follow-up medical care for persons infected and affected by the HIV and AIDS virus.

Selma AIR needs your help and financial/material support in serving those affected by HIV/AIDS, which means all of us.

About Selma AIR

Selma AIR is a non-profit, community based organization. It is the primary CBO within a 13 county area of the Black-Belt and Southwest Alabama that provides services to those affected by HIV and AIDS. Selma AIR (AIDS Information and Referral) extends services to 8 counties within the Black-Belt known by the Alabama Department of Public Health as Area 7. The service area is comprised of Choctaw, Dallas, Hale, Lowndes, Marengo, Perry, Sumter, and Wilcox counties.

EDUCATION and CLIENT SERVICES

Red Cross Certified HIV/AIDS Educators: Provide age appropriate HIV/AIDS education for schools, churches and other religious organizations, community center, civic, and youth organizations.

Speakers Bureau: Persons living with HIV/AIDS offer first-hand accounts to personalized audiences.

Informative Publications: Free brochures, pamplets, and magazines on HIV/AIDS and related topics.

Testing and Counseling: Free confidential HIV rapid testing (OraSure) with pre- and post-test counseling.

Case Management: Funded by the Ryan White Care Act, social workers and case managers provide on-going client interventions, referrals, and support promoting effective HIV management, ego-strength, and self-sufficiency.

Health Monitoring Clinic: Offers confidential testing, health screening, and medication assistance for HIV positive persons.

Support Groups: Monthly support meetings/activities groups for clients, family, loved ones, and friends.
